As a wave of finals looms closer and papers pile higher on desks, it’s nice to be reminded that the holidays are on the way too. On December 6, the University Honors Program held a Cookie Decorating event in the Laguna Beach Room of the University Student Union, where students decorated sugar cookies while Christmas music played in the background. The room was so filled with people that the balcony was opened up to accommodate everyone. Cookies displayed holiday cheer with designs made in colorful icing, topped off with glittering sugar sprinkles.
When students were asked what they were looking forward to during the holidays, the most common response was having time to spend with loved ones (as well as for some well-earned rest) - it truly is one of the most cherished gifts at this time of year.
“Sleeping. I’m leaving the country to visit family, so I’m looking forward to that.” — Jennifer Rauda, Marine Biology Major
“Definitely spending time with family and friends and the Christmas spirit. I love the holiday songs.” — Anny Yoo, Pre-Nursing Major
Some students left the event with cookies in their plates while others ate their cookies before the event was over. With students from various majors sitting and standing together in one place, it gave them an opportunity to get to know each other and to hang out with friends.
From all of us here at the Honor Code Magazine, we wish everyone Happy Holidays! Enjoy the family time and well deserved vacation, we’ll see you in the new year!
