What Songs Get Honors Students Moving

Updated: May 22, 2023

Hello Honors Students! I am here to bring the top songs you guys voted for on Instagram! Music is a part of our everyday lives and it has numerous advantages, such as alleviating stress and reducing cortisol levels, which trigger the body's flight or fight reaction. Music can correspond to anything we do, and there are various varieties for every individual to enjoy!

We asked you all what your favorite songs were on the go and below are the top three. Number one is Natasha Beddingfield's “Pocketful of Sunshine”, number two is “Cardigan” by Taylor Swift, and number three is “Yerushalayim” by the Miami Boys Choir.

1. Natasha Beddingfield’s Pocketful of Sunshine

This song may seem familiar, and it is!

This song was sung by Emma Stone in her movie, Easy A. This song is great if you want to just relax, feel happy, and escape from the stress of classes.

2. Cardigan by Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift's role in the "Cardigan" music video is astounding, and fans adore the songwriter/singer's imagination. Taylor explains the song as being about a lost passion and why adolescent love is often so deeply imprinted on our minds. Why does it leave behind such a permanent imprint, she questions. This is a song about long-lost love and reflecting on how amazing it made you feel, she explains, adding, "all the beautiful things it made you feel, all the agony that it made you feel based upon one’s first love.”

3. Yerushalayim, the live version by the Miami Boys choir

It's worth noting that a TikTok song that went viral was "Yerushalayim," which translates to "Jerusalem" in English. The song connects to the cultural realm of Jewish music while also introducing people to the Jewish culture, which Pearlman (one of the soloist choir boys) believes is isolated to the Jewish community.

Those are the top three songs Honors students voted for! Go check them out and let us know what you thought of them!
